Bike parking locations

Hutt council have installed bike parking in a number of locations around Lower Hutt.  At present there is no on-line map available.

Bike parking policy

Hutt City Council installs a number of additional bike stands around the city each year. see ‘Walk & Cycle the Hutt Plan 2014-19‘, page 16

Bike parking in the District Plan

The transport chapter of the district plan is currently under review.  The proposed chapter contains bike parking provisions.

Requesting Bike Parking – The Process

Hutt City Council provides cycle parking at various locations around the CBD, suburban shopping centres, and at Council facilities e.g. libraries, pools. If you would like to suggest a location for additional bike parking, contact us by email at contact@huttcity.govt.nz or talk with one of our customer service staff on 04 570 6666

Hutt Cycle Network meet regularly to discuss ways to improve cycling in Hutt City.  You can contact them via their Facebook group page.

Local Awesomeness

Links to local businesses supporting everyday cycling by stocking the right gear

Cycle Science  They stock some baskets, racks and panniers

Wellington Electric Bikes.  A Petone based business selling e-bikes and conversion kits.

Bicycle Junction.  Newtown based home of the ‘everyday bike’, as well as service, urban cycling accessories and coffee.

Metal Art.  Seaview based business who sell and manufacture bike parking as well as other innovative ‘structural’ products.
